@Janine Thank you so much. I'll keep pumping. I keep worrying that the hospital will solely use formula and tell me stop pumping as I haven't been producing much. I hope once I start breastfeeding my supply increases x
Keep going as long as you feel you can. If your baby has to have some formula that is ok, I wasn't producing enough so she needed formula - it's made for a reason! There's so many things working against you when you have a baby in NICU but you are doing all you can and that is all you can do. A baby on your boob is totally different to a pump! Xx
Eat some oats as they supposedly increase production, drink lots of water and have lots of skin to skin time. After holding my baby on my chest for an hour, I could produce double the milk volume! Also pump while looking at your baby if you can, it’s amazing how your body responds to being near your baby. I was an overproducer and I’ve actually found since breastfeeding I’ve produced less because she has communicated she doesn’t need as much, so I imagine it would go the other way for you! Xx
Hiya, I feel you, I struggled with my supply for weeks. I tried everything (domperidome, fennel etc), I found that mine did increase but only when my baby came home, I got a hands free pump and she starting latching more. We never went to fully breast feeding but the bigger and stronger she got the more she could go on. I was also expressing 8 times a day and in the night. It's so so tough, you are doing amazing! It doesn't matter what anyone says you do what feels right for you. It's such a journey, I found it so hard. In the end my baby had to go onto a high calorie formula but at that point I was expressing enough that I was able to freeze it and hopefully she'll be able to have it in a few months!! Keep going xxx
