Employer can be exempt if less than 50 employees
I would not ask these questions in an interview, gives them more fuel to not hire you. Ask them after you have the contract in hand. If you’re a consultant you’d have to check the law for if you have those protections. If you’re an independent employee they might not need to provide you anything
@Kiana I wouldn’t want to work for a company that wouldn’t hire me just cause I’m a pumping parent😵 maybe that’s a better way to tell if you’d be happy there or not
By law you don't even need to mention these things upfront, I would focus on the job interview first once you start let them know what you need, cause if they just so happen to make a fuss about that, it's discrimination so they'd be in alot of trouble but employers have a habit of discriminating against mom's who are pregnant or nursing and choosing other candidates because they don't want to have to do the extra work of accommodation and then they're other employers that aren't that way but you never know what they're thinking.
They can’t discriminate on hiring you bc you’re a lactating mom who pumps. If they have 50+ employees they’re required to have a mother’s room. Even if they don’t have one, they’re required to provide you with a private space that hygienic and has proper milk storage (a fridge). I’d still bring a specific cooler and ice packs bc often the fridge is the break room one and you want your containers kept clean! You’re allowed to pump as often as your body needs to for as long as your body needs to. They can’t stop you, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the duties of your job 🫶🏻
@Lauryn absolutely true but I’d want to avoid even accidental biases. I wouldn’t want anyone to associate my interview with asking for more breaks up front. My goal during interviews is to get the employer to imagine me in the role and working with the team. This is an unnecessary thing to bring up in the early stages. I would wait until I have the contract in hand and then go hard on the questions to decide if I sign
They’re required to give a private comfortable room for you to pump in unpaid and need to be flexible with when you need to pump. It needs refrigeration and running water, as well as no one being able to walk in on you. Has to be clean/sanitary
