House rules

The kids have always been told not to run in the house. All day today, they've been running through the house. What would you do if you told them to stop 10+ times, and they just kept doing it? I've already sent them outside, but it's pretty hot out there.

I'm guessing your kids are about school age. Next time you hear running, call everyone to the living room for a stand up meeting. Tell them you've noticed extra running in the house today. If they argue give examples. Ask if there is a reason for the extra running. Remind them the rule is no running in the house, and that it is a rule to keep everyone safe and give everyone a pleasant environment. Ask if they like living in a safe, pleasant environment and if they have any feedback on the rule. Tell them if you notice more running they will all need to help mop the floor (or other consequence) before dinner (or bedtime, or other specific time). Ask them to repeat the the consequence. Thank them for listening and release them to go play. (Slowly) 🙂

I just gotta say damn lol 😂 my kids don’t really run but they play in the house it’s not big really but maybe have an area where they can play go crazy in run there energy out at in then praise them if they do listen to not run they maybe just need a reminder a lil bit of a praise My kids forget and when I tell them to stop when they are on that level of play mode they don’t really listen bc there mind is going to fast like there body is lol 😂 Hopefully I was somewhat helpful

@Bonny I made them put their noses in a corner. I have 5 kids running around constantly when they know the rules. We've had a couple of meetings about it, and they continue to break the rules. I try everything I can to not do what my parents used to do as punishments, but now I understand why😂

@Shay there's too many kids to run inside😂 That's why they get sent outside
