Doula?

Is anyone getting a doula? And if so, how early are you going to start working with them?

I have a doula- I hired her at 12 weeks and I’m 22 now. I feel like I’m not going to regret this investment- everyone I know that has had one says they are amazing

I was recommended to get one in the early second trimester since they can be in high demand and usually only take a few clients per due month. I’m opting not to but have plenty of friends who did hire one, especially if planning a non medicated birth! Some do prep meetings and consultations throughout the pregnancy.

Does anyone know how much it costs to hire a doula? I'd really just love to have an advocate at my planned c section because last time the Dr's and the nurses literally ignored every single ask I had for my child.

In California for just birth services you can expect to pay between $1700-3000 on average- mine is $2500

@Julia exactly- you are just a number and they want you in and out.. if you want someone who cares and can advocate hire a doula

Around me, they are 800-1500

I would love one, but we can’t afford one and they are only covered by Medicaid 😓
