Car seat placement

Where are you all putting the car seat in the car? I originally was thinking the back rear however my friend made a good point that the middle may be best because if for any reason I’m in an accident then the baby may not get a direct impact if their are on the left or right?

Had my son in the middle when he was an infant. Moved to the right side once he was a bit older and heavier and I didn’t want to keep reaching all the way to the middle. He’s almost 2.5 now and is still on the same position. I have a friend whose daughter is the same age as my son and she has her in the middle still but she has a rotating car seat so that helps I’m sure.

I agree, it’s just harder getting the baby in and out being in the middle

Middle is best and once they get older move them right side so you can pass stuff as they are still rear facing

I didn’t even think about how hard it might be to get the car seat in the middle 🤦🏾‍♀️ I’m only 5ft tall and drive a large suv. I guess it will end up on the side because it really would be a struggle. I may have to try the middle for a bit and see how it goes.

I had my baby in the middle until he was 1.5y then moved him behind passenger seat. Way easier to get him in and out 😵‍💫 and I can see him better

Always the middle if possible. Sure it’s a little more tedious. But. I’d rather tedious and safe. Especially god forbid of an accident.

@Christina it’s not hard from the middle. My son is 4 months and we haven’t moved it yet

Back middle because that's the safest seat. 💯 Worth the small bit of extra difficulty getting her in and out. She is 2 and still rear facing in back middle, no regrets and she helps get herself in now.

@Michele mine is 5. Still rear facing cause. She’s still in limits for her car seat. And I don’t plan to change that til we *have to*

The type of carseat should specify in the instructions where it's supposed to be placed. Both our infant carseat and the upright one we're using now specially say to place on the side, either behind the driver or passenger seat.
