Vitamins and blood thinners

Hey all, I’m on 150mg of aspirin a day. My husband just pointed out that my Pregnacare vitamins plus omega 3 says ‘should not take this product except on the advise of a doctor due to vitamin K and omega 3’ has anyone spoken to a doctor about this? I see my midwife tomorrow so I’ll she what she says

I have a box but haven't started them yet but will check with midwife too. I don't see mine until 4th October though x

I take Pregnacare with omega 3 - it's very good for the baby 🙂

@Claudia I’ve been taking the omega 3 ones for the past 4 months, but only just found out that they can interact with blood thinners :)

I get you :) I doubt it would have much of an effect, at least not negative. There are studies demonstrating that higher levels of omega 3 increase the benefits of aspirin, and lower levels of omega 3 reduce the efficacy of aspirin (in heart patients, for example). E.g. https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/circ.138.suppl_1.16633

PS There are many studies indicating higher levels of omega 3 help to prevent preterm birth, too :)

But they can interact with asprin. I am also not taking

@Nabs my midwife says it’s fine, the main issue is thinners like warfarin

@Gabe so that means can take multivitamins of pregnacare ??

@Nabs yep. If you google Pregnacare it also says it isn’t known to interact with aspirin

@Gabe but lots of ladies on this form told me not to take multivitamin like pregnacare if you taking asprin. As I am taking 150mg so I am scared if anything happens. 😞.

It’s your choice. I’m trusting professionals over forum advice 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you decide not to take a multivitamin, make sure you get everything you need from your diet. I’ve been taking 150mg of aspirin with my Pregnacare vitamins for a month and a half and things are going well

@Gabe oh perfect I am going to start as well then. How many weeks you are now . I am 20 weeks and also taking 150mg asprin Because of low papp

@Nabs I’m 17.5 weeks now :) been taking the aspirin since 12 weeks

@Gabe does your Papp come low as well
