I had my son at 37/38weeks pregnant and I am sad that they don’t do skin to skin immediately. They did show him to me and put his cheek next to mine then they took him away while they closed me up. It was an hr later that I was able to hold him and do skin to skin contact. He was also hungry so I had to breastfeed immediately. As much as I hated that they took that away from me I was glad that it was for a healthy reason and my son was born perfect and I was doing fine. Now I am pregnant with my second baby and having a c-section at 39 weeks.
I’m doing a planned 1-2 week early c-section I think they planned it then because our little one is due the 26th of December and my first had heart rate issues causing emergency c section. I was never allowed a skin to skin with my first
@Ale did the doctor explain to you why they needed to leave while they closed you up? I know my hospital does the same thing but haven’t had a chance to ask my doctor why they have to leave for that part
They had to check him and make sure everything was fine while they were closing me up my partner stayed with my son until I was reunited with them an hr later.
@Janell it is so hard accepting this stuff that we have no control over. I’m hoping as the days go by I become more and more at peace with it! Sending you ❤️
I am doing c section scheduled was for 39 weeks but as of today they moved us to Nov 25.. so 37w SO with the skin to skin.. this is my second And we did urgent csection my first baby. While we didn't immediately do skin to skin, within the first half hour I had her on me.. they literally followed every single one of my instructions according to my birth plan, and my baby had pooped in her bag so they needed to clean her up, but they still respected my choice not to bathe her. They cleaned her up, weighed her and sewed me up, wheeled us into the recovery room and put her on me for skin to skin. While it wasn't the second she was out of me.. it was as close to immediate as I could ask for in those circumstances. So as stressful as it sounds and feels... try not to stress because it does nothing but hurt you and baby. We need to be thankful for things we do get in these circumstances rather than focusing on the things that don't work out the way we envision. I do completely sympathize with you.
I had my second son via c section at exactly 37 weeks, and yes, I just wanted him in my arms asap but the nicu team had to make sure he was breathing right etc first. It was only 30mins or so. They will get him in your arms as soon as it’s safe 🩵
Thank you. This helps ❤️
I'm the same. I'm not looking forward to a C-section but my doctor is insisting based off my high BP. I should do it. He also stated she will have to stay in the hospital because she appears a bit smaller than normal. I'm terrified and have been refusing. I pray daily that things get better
