Induction-Royal Sussex County Hospital

Has anyone had an induction recently at RSCH? I have one on Thursday and not really sure if my partner can stay, or what the process is x

I had one in December last year, my other half was able to stay with me till 10pm I think it was and then he had to leave and could come back from 8/9am. They did say if anything was to process quickly then he could come back! I went in at 10am on the date given, but they didn’t start the induction till 8pm that evening I think it was. Good luck x

I have been so until your in active labour your partner can’t stay visiting times are 8am to 10pm this is on level 12 though. If your being induced on level 13 your partner can stay the whole time at this is labour ward x

Partners are allowed to stay every night now

@Marina is this on level 12 too? I’m being induced there x

Hmmm I think I was there before I had my baby and my spouse was with me all night before my baby was born, they took me up to the labour ward at 4 am. I think there was someone else with their partner there too.

I think in general they honestly dont mind partners there as long as they are quiet/helpful/not bothering others tbh. My spouse stayed with me the second night in hospital too after my emergency section even though technically he couldn’t, and they didn’t say anything

You’ll not be in the labour ward as you’re being induced so your partner will have to leave at 9 or 10 (can’t remember). They will induce you likely with a suppository and it’s not comfortable but it doesn’t hurt. My contraction started quite soon (but very mild like period pains). Once you’re in active labour you’ll be moved and your partner can be there for the duration.

Hey, I had one just over a week ago. Partners can stay till 10pm in antenatal ward. In labour / postnatal wards they can stay all night but have to sleep in a chair by your bed. Btw I had a great experience - the staff are absolute angels. Good luck! Xx

I had one in April and the midwife’s were super nice and let my partner stay with me until 11 , it went really well and all the staff were amazing , definitely bring your own pillow and if needed bring an eye mask for sleep
