Low placenta

So had my 20 weeks scan today and was told I have a low laying placenta which isn't good and they said hopefully it moves, but what does it mean cause the midwife didn't really explain it to me

Me too. It just means it’s close to the cervix. They also told me it should move away from the cervix the more your pregnancy progresses. Placenta previa is different and worse - that one means the placenta fully covers the cervix. This can lead to bleeding and premature labour

Avoid sexual intercourse until your placenta is in a better position and avoid lifting heavy things and exercise

Also may mean if it doesn’t move you might need a caesarean! I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant and had my scan today to check if it had moved and it hasn’t. I’m going back in 4 weeks for my 36 week scan and if it hasn’t moved I’ll be having a c section. X

@Laura can’t they give you another scan at 38 weeks to check again? x
