I found eggs really good at keeping my levels stable and rough oat cakes, whole grain rice, tuna. It takes time to find your own balance. Don't put too much pressure on urself your body will do what your body will do and you can only control so much with GD if you end up needing medication just focus on the fact thst your baby is safe and ur not failing ive known so many mums thst get upset thst they had to use medication to control it. The team around you are there to help so listen to their advice. I had it with my 1st and they failed to tell me till after he was born my second they were more on the ball and everything was fine with both my boys. You got this. Message me if u wanna ask any questions or anything at all.

I had it and post meal readings have been mostly good. I made sure in every meal I eat, most of it is protein, fibre and good fats with some complex carbs in it. Sometimes when I ate fast food and walked 15-20 minutes after eating, my glucose levels were still good, to my surprise. Walking or physical activity after meals helped me a lot.

Only a 1/4 your plate can be carbs, and drink a lot of water bc other drinks will mess up your levels

The book “Real Food for Gestational Diabetes” has a lot of tips and recipes inside

Fors many moms it can be managed with diet and in that case, doesn’t require induction if all goes well aside from that. It’s supposed to go away once you deliver and your OB should be able to help you navigate that

It can be so overwhelming getting the diagnosis. It took me about 3 weeks to come to terms with it. Some can manage with diet others take insulin as well as being very careful with diet. It takes a while to grasp what you can eat. Once you get it you will be fine. Diet wise you are focusing on combing your carb intake with proteins and fats. You will get a certain amount of grams per meal and snack you can have of carbs. Some snacks I like are some plain biscuits with cheese and pickle, yoghurt with berries or an apple with peanut butter. If you end up needing to take insulin it’s ok. You will get used to it. I have to do one shot of insulin before bed at night. At first I found that so daunting. But it hardly hurts and you just get into a rhythm with it.
