Some cavities you can see very obviously right away on the X-ray! But a second opinion never hurts!
Was there visible bone loss or anything on the x-ray?
@Ella She barely spoke to me lol all she said was I needed a crown and that I could lose a tooth which was so shocking to me because my entire life going to the dentist, the dentists are always impressed with my teeth and I’ve rarely had problems. I usually have cavities though for some reason despite my proper dental hygiene care and good health eating habits.
Cavities are mostly genetics What I mean is, did she show you the x-ray? Could you see it?
I’d get a second opinion elsewhere
@Ella Yeah, she showed me the X-ray & talked about it for 2 seconds and then rushed me right out the door. So I’m not really sure what bone loss looks like in an x-ray
If you're not sure I'd go get a second opinion just in case. I've had it where I was cavity free for YEARS, and then when I was 15 my dentist said I had 4 cavities. My mom could only afford to do one filling at the time. And I never went back to have the other 3 filled since it wasn't bothering me. I went back to the dentist when I was 20 and I mentioned the other 3 cavities and my new dentist said they couldn't see anything. I've never had another "cavity" and the one I got filled would always give me problems until I saw my new dentist and they cleaned it out and refilled it. Now I don't have those issues anymore. So I strongly suggest getting a second opinion if you can afford it.
