@Rebecca he drinks every 2 hours, it’s been like this for the past week or so, would you see this as a sign he is requesting them sooner as before it used to be 3 hours. Just unsure what the right thing to do is (FTM) 🤣
I was told there should be around an oz left in the bottle so I would up the amount x
My LO is 8 weeks and is on 180ml- she'll go 3/4 hours between feeds during the day on that amount so I would suggest upping the amount ☺️
@Chantelle yes I would go for 180 then personally. If they seem unsettled between feeds etc go back to 150 more frequently xx
Up it, then the option is there for the baby if he needs it. He'll only take what he needs x
My midwife always told us to put an extra ounce in to what our baby is drinking. So he usually has 4oz but we always make 5oz just incase he wants to take a tiny bit extra. At least we know he is satisfied
@Rebecca thank you for your help, yeah he’s never sick or anything so we would know if it’s too much for him. Xx
My aug baby is breastfed but my 1st baby was formula fed he was going through a tin and a half a week by this age. Theres roughly 170oz per tin so 255oz a week or 36oz per day ( 6×6oz) By 4 months he was on 2 & a half tins a week Remember every baby is different. Let them lead in the amount they need, whats normal for one baby isnt for another. As long as baby is gaining healthy weight, plenty of wet and dirty nappies you dont need to worry about the amount they take xx
Our baby was the same around this age too (now 11 weeks) and we upped him to 180ml bottles and he’s still on those now but he only has 6 bottles a day now instead of the 7-8 bottles he used to have. We found that he was hungry again about 90mins - 2hrs before but now he goes at least 3 hours and is so happy and content until his next bottle. His naps in the day have also been better.
I personally would leave at 150 until he started requesting them sooner than they usually would. Then up to 180. As that would be a sign it’s not filling them as well. A lot of people would say to up it as soon as their draining it but I found when we did that my baby still took it then was sick.
