I’m wondering the same thing! I’m on the fence!
I'm getting one this time ! I feel a lot better about it
Our doula was a big reason why I had an unmedicated vaginal delivery for my first. I think baby got stalled and she moved me through some positions to get him descended and progress dilation. We are hiring her again :)
I had a doula for my first. Unmedicated at a birth center. I felt like she was a wonderful addition to help me prepare and support my husband and I through the process the first time. She also helped me process the birth experience after - which was invaluable for my uncomplicated birth and imagine would be more so if birth doesn’t go as planned. 10/10 For this second birth, we are opting to go with a postpartum doula instead. It’s actually more expensive than the birth doula but I think are the more worthy investment for our needs at this time.
Im in RI and my insurance covers doula services for before, after, or during delivery...I'm opting to work with one this time for pregnancy tips and post partum help. My husband and my mother will be in my delivery room
We opted to invest our money in a postpartum doula instead. I don’t have any first hand experience letting me know that was the right or wrong decision yet but I felt since my only need from my “birth plan” is basically keep me and baby alive, I didn’t really feel the need to have an additional support person there to guide or advocate for me outside of my husband.
