Next steps - Male Infertility Tests

Hi all, My partner is due to have his sperm analysis this Wednesday. We’ve been waiting for 3 months, so I’m excited to just find out one way or another. Context - he has a varicocele when he was younger and so there’s a risk of it impacting his fertility. He’s done a few home tests and they’ve all come up with low sperm count and low motility. I know the at home tests aren’t super reliable but with his history, I’m preparing myself for it to come back low. I was just wondering, if it does come back low, what are the next steps? I’ve really struggled to find much information about what happens if it’s male infertility. I know we’d need ICSI but what would the next steps be, following on from the results? I know I seem a bit negative, as we haven’t had the results yet but planning for the possible gives me some kind of control over a situation where all control has been taken away from us… if that makes sense.

We've had ICSI due to MFI, I'm about to have my baby this week so happy to chat about the process we've been through if you like. Where are you located?

There are some Malé vitamins that could help with motility and concentration. But there is not much to do. I would not worry much about it. I am an embryologist also and have done fertility treatment. I felt the same way. And I am afraid there is nothing you can do, I struggled the most with the 6 days of waiting after the egg retrieval because you don't have any control over the process, you just have to wait. Even if the embryologist team decides to do IVF rather than Icsi, it will be out of your control too. Do not stress much about it. They will do what they consider is best. As long as there is some sperm there is always a chance.
