first pregnancy appointment

Hi, I’m 5 weeks pregnant so contacted the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells maternity service and have been told in an email that I shouldn’t expect to hear anything until after 8 weeks at least. It’s my first time being pregnant and I’m just not sure if that is what it should be or if I should be able to see someone before that time? Would be grateful for any support or advice, feeling quite alone and nervous!! x

I’m also with MTW and they’re amazing. I contacted them the same amount of weeks as you are and they contacted me a week or 2 later I think to book my first midwife appt at 10 weeks I think? They do get back to you relatively quick! If you have any more questions abt them pls feel free to pop up! X

I live near Ashford but had all my care at MTW. My first appt was around 8 weeks 5 days I believe but I guess just depends how busy they are at the moment x

Sounds pretty normal

Yes I did the same you won’t be seen at all until minimum of 10 weeks - 12weeks pregnant. I thought I would go to doctors so I tried to book appointment when I found out and they said you don’t do that now you register like you have and an appointment will come forward for you within those week. It’s a hard time as you feel you need confirmation further to a pregnancy test saying you pregnant x

The way the nhs works- they literally don’t do anything to confirm the pregnancy until the 12 week scan
