Yes I was! Well my first glucose test was negative and then they sent me for another as baby was measuring big and then it came back positive at 35 weeks. I was totally shocked and I even cried. But to be honest it wasn’t that bad! Yes taking blood sugars isn’t fun but the care I had was fantastic and you get more scans too. I was induced at 40 weeks due to size of baby and being FTM. Baby was born via forceps with no complications and was 9lbs 5oz. Bloods were taken after birth and they were fine and baby’s bloods were perfect too. Been for my blood test recently to check and all is clear! I honestly wouldn’t worry about it! It’s just for a few months and the care you will get is so good ❤️
Yes, I was. They put me straight on the insulin pens, but they're honestly not bad, a little prick on the thigh twice a day and then measuring bloods at certain times of the day. I changed my diet, but it didn't really impact it. My blood sugar levels were all over the place no matter what I ate. It was controlled with the insulin. Baby was born by c section as she was big and breech. Baby's blood sugar levels were normal after birth, and she weighed 9lb3oz, so not massive!
Yes I found it easy to manage after meal blood sugar readings with lots of changes to diet. Was on insulin for bedtime as the fasting reading is the hardest to control. Lost weight whilst pregnant. It’s temporary, was induced 10 days early, baby was 8lb 2oz and he’s perfect 12 weeks later. My sugars have also returned to normal at 6 weeks post partum.
Thanks to all who've replied so far. Just felt a bit overwhelmed today as I'm a ftm and really wasn't expecting that result today. Feel like I'm starting from the start again as I've to change my care to a different hospital now. So a new set of faces, area, further to go for appointments etc.
@Noleen I've had a few tears today too!
I did! What do you want to know
