How much milk?

How much milk is everyone feeding baba? Our doctor has said we may be over feeding our little boy so I’m curious

My LG is on 4x7oz bottles, plus 3 "meals" a day (I say this loosely, she definitely doesn't eat even half of most of it!) and the occasional snack 😊 the formula tin says she should be having 3 bottles but that's just not happening at the moment lol

@Alix thanks for this!! My baby boy is 4x7oz too and he has a snack and one meal at the moment. He’s got terrible reflux we’ve tried all sorts and today the doctor basically said we was over feeding him. But if we give less I know he’d be unhappy and hungry 😭

My little one is having about 5x 7oz bottles in 24hrs, doesn't always drink the full bottle, and a bit of toast in the morning but don't think he actually eats much of it yet 😂🙈 he's 7 months on the weekend x

@Paige this is so reassuring thank you

Same as Alix. Although we offer 8 ounce bottles. As sometimes she does finish it. But then sometimes only does 5-6 ounces. It changes all the time. Same as the “meals” too. Lunch is BLW as it just gets thrown around 😂

4x 8oz bottles! Drinks pretty much all of it. And 1-2 meals a day. Doesn’t sound like you are over feeding at all!

I’m guessing he doesn’t mean over 24 hours, but an individual feed? Could you try offering 5x6oz bottles instead of 4x7oz?

@Rosie hey! No he meant in a 24h period. I don’t think cutting his oz down would be any good for him as he’s a hungry baby. It we offer less he cries and that’s why he’s on 7oz as he basically wants it

Hey! This happened to me I got told continuously that I was ‘over feeding’ my little girl. Yes she was having a few oz more than the ‘recommended’ amount but I had multiple nightmares with doctors and health visitors. She was hungry and wanted the bottles. She had awful reflux/colic and I finally got given gaviscon and was on reflux formula and it worked wonders! Now she is weaning I’ve swapped her milk back to normal formula and I’m gradually refusing the gaviscon! She has 1 9oz in the morning but only tends to drink 8. And then I offer 3 8oz bottles and she tends to leave around 1/2 oz depending when she’s had her ‘meals’. I give her breakfast, some snacks in the day ( purely if I just need a min to myself or if I need to do a job🤣) and then tea! Feel free to message any questions if you have any regarding what I did with her reflux etc xx

My twins have three decent portioned meals and approx 28-30oz over 24hr period. I can’t begin to imagine the upset if I didn’t give them their bottle 😬😅

@Jodie hiya. We’ve tried gaviscon and omeprazole. When we went back to the docs today he basically said we’re over feeding him but he cries for milk so he gets 4 x 7oz a day. He is sick even 2/3 hours after his bottles it’s honestly awful. Everything stinks, all our clothes are ruined lol. I don’t think reducing his milk will help, will only upset him :( I think we’re just going to speak to a private specialist

@Natalie exactly my point!! You increase the feeds as you see fit and 7os is working for us

@Heather have you tried reflux milk and the gaviscon/omeprazole? I was a little sceptical when my doctor told me to give them both at the same time but it helped with her reflux so much! My LG started on aptamil and they do a reflux/colic formula. Could it maybe be an allergy/intolerance? X

@Jodie he’s cmpa so he’s on sma althera, but I haven’t tried gaviscon and omeprazole together actually. Never thought to do that. I did ask if we could try carobel but he said if omeprazole isn’t working then carobel definitely won’t 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Heather ahh okay. I only used reflux milk and gaviscon never tried the omeprazole! I think you can get carobel over the counter might be worth trying that! But i would 100% speak to a specialist - I’ve heard lots of people rave about osteopaths and they worked wondered for their babies so that could be worth looking into!

@Heather I’m not sure if you can use gaviscon and omeprazole together you’d have to do some research x

my daughter drinks 3-5 7oz bottles and 2 food pouches a day. one is a 7+ "dinner meal" type (like cottage pie) and the other is just fruit, vegetables or Greek yogurt. she's not interested in any food she has to hold atm, she likes making grabby hands and saying "mhmm" as I feed her 😂
