Weaning

Is anybody else finding it extremely stressful? Only tried 4 times but they’ve all ended up in screaming and me feeling awful. I’m wondering if maybe she isn’t ready yet, but she is showing all other signs that she is. Finding it difficult! 😢

My son was 4 weeks early, we attempted when he turned 6 months so 5months corrected but he just screamed and didn’t actually swallow any food of the one baby spoon of food we gave him and he doesn’t open his mouth when he see’s the spoon so I spoke to a health visitor who advised to try again closer to 7 months where he will then be 6months corrected! There main source of food is milk anyway so I wouldn’t stress too much, maybe try again in a few weeks?

I have done purees for lunch and BLW for dinner. Dinner time is more like playtime for my baby I just put everything on her tray and she does what she wants with it. Have you tried putting sensory toys on there tray to occupy them?

I can be a stress head but I’m just letting go with this. There’s mess / there’s little swallowing / some is finger food / some is spoon fed. She’s loving savoury and not so much sweet. Yesterday she had pita and humus and LOVED it - but I wasn’t settled as worried she would choke.

What type of weaning are you trying, BLW / purees? If you're doing one or the other, maybe try the other to see if she perfers that way instead? X

We sing songs when it's eating time. Try to make it fun, and not specifically about the food. It doesn't matter if they're not properly eating yet. Just introduce little bits, but mainly learning about highchair means eating time. It's all such a learning curve for them. Mine is starting to not be so upset in the highchair anymore. More practice, and they will get it!

I tried puréed weaning and my little girl absolutely hated it. Last night I gave her some pasta and she loved it. Wouldn’t say she ate much but she definitely enjoyed it more x
