Reflux

Hi, I have a five month old who’s a “happy spitter” it’s peaking at the moment we are constantly outfit changing. I’m worried with solids round the corner that he will also throw up food. Would love to hear others experiences x

My second child also had bad reflux (my 2 month old does too) and he didn't spit up solids. Their digestive systems start to adjust eventually. Did you get reflux meds for your baby? Because our pediatrician is being a pain about it

That is so good to hear. We were given gaviscon but I didn’t really use it as I didn’t want him to struggle with toileting. He is happy in himself so I’ve just tried to manage with the constant changing. It can be so soul destroying some days!! Hope your dr helps xx

His doctor was concerned because he dropped off his weight curve and he's little to begin with but I don't know if they are really related or he's just a little guy. My older two were skinny little things too, never much baby fat to speak of. So far she has tried to get me to switch him from exclusively breast fed to formula and I told her no. Then she still refused to give him meds and is sending him to a gi doctor to see what's causing the reflux.... which is fine but I wish she would give him the medicine too. My best friend had multiple children with bad reflux and the first thing they always tried for the breast fed baby's was reflux meds. So I don't get what the problem is here and feel like she isn't supportive of breast feeding.

@Heather you can get reflux meds over the counter it’s called infant gaviscon. Xx

So sorry to hear that Heather, mum always knows best. Sorry your having to fight to be listened to xx

@BellasMumma💖 thank you for that! My second child had reflux but he stayed on his weight curve and no one cared that he spit up an excessive amount so I didn't know what to look for and if there were any over the counter meds

@Heather my daughter suffers from reflux really bad bless her. She has really from 1-2 months. She’s nearly 5 months. My doctor prescribed her omeprazole but it made her abit sick still so I went to chemist and got over counter gaviscon and she doesn’t really be sick anymore where as before the gaviscon it was like a horror show, would sick up most of her bottle every time, she sounds really chesty with her reflux like it’s all sitting on her chest. With the gaviscon they can have upto twelve sachets a day xx

@Heather it’s powder so you just mix the powder in with there milk xx

@Heather also it may make your baby a little consipated it did with my baby but once she was used to it she was fine with pooing, her poo is a little like play doe consistency so don’t panic that’s normal when taking gaviscon xx

@BellasMumma💖 I looked it up and we can't get it here in the states unfortunately. Thank you though. Oh my baby doesn't get bottles actually but hopefully I'll get them to prescribe him something soon and hopefully it will work well for him.
