Is your baby fighting an infection / viral infection at the minute at all? My son goes through stages and he seems to have a flare up when he’s fighting an infection. And of course he’s picking up everything since starting nursery 🙈 I’ve been saying for months that I think he has an allergy and doctors have told me no it won’t be that, it’s just reflux and eventually they’ve listened to me and said it’s allergy related. My son was born almost 5 weeks early, still small for his age. He’s only 10months though!
@Charleigh how did you manage it? Did you continue with the milk or avoided it?
@Laura we haven’t started nursery yet so I don’t think there’s any signs of infection. She is teething though! I just noticed the cough and remembered she would cough a lot previously with reflux. How have the doctors said to manage the allergy?
My son is also teething so could be in the mix aswell. It’s so hard to try and rule things out etc and they obvs can’t tell you what’s wrong. Well he’ll be 1 just before Christmas and they’ve said because of his age it’s hard to get him to try prescription milks as he will reject it (they aren’t very nice anyway) they are hoping he will grow out of it but said the next test is when he has cows milk to see how he tolerates it which annoys me in a way as he’s still suffering. Sometimes he refuses the milk now so give him apple dilute as advised do least he’s getting some fluids in. We have been referred to a dietician so waiting to hear back and apparently they’ll advise how to introduce milk etc
I've stopped dairy and soy, she had a significant improvement and is so much happier.
Your baby doesn’t need milk after infancy. Don’t ween to cows milk. Provide foods that are rich in vitamin D and calcium and make sure baby is getting a balanced diet and then ween to no milk
@Laura oh no that sounds awful for you and little one. I hope the dietician has some ideas. Thank you so much for sharing this x
@Charleigh I recently read someone on Reddit saying they use lactose free milk and that helps. I do think dairy is the main culprit here
@Jordan I don’t know how to do that but that would be amazing if I could! My little one eats small portions but eats everything. She has teeny tiny amounts of milk and always has done, so has several bottles in the day. She’s slowly dropped some as she’s eating and snacking more but still wants milk. I’m not sure what to do 😩
If she has a cows milk allergy it may not be the lactose, my daughter has an allergy to the protein in the dairy and soy is very similar so has to same response.
My daughter's reflux was worsened by a cow protein and soy allergy.
