Why is it okay to breastfeed after one but not formula feed?

We’re in a predicament as we should be transitioning to cows milk but baby has a cows milk allergy and we have BOXES of special formula to get through. Why can we reduce her bottles while still on formula, and then continue to use it along side, or mixed with non dairy milk until it’s used up? She’s 13 months

You can give baby formula after 1 its just no longer necessary and easier on your pocket to swap to other milks. You can do exactly what you've stated.

we still give our bub formula she’s 13 months as she’s not quite eating 3 meals a day yet , so what is right for your family

You can still give formula! We are still using formula because our boy won’t take any other milk but is still needing his bottle at night. We buy ‘toddler’ milk which is probably a total gimmick but it’s just slightly cheaper than the first stage formula 😂

Formula is very filling as it’s designed to be a babies main source of nutrition before 1 so if they’re drinking lots of it the danger is they fill up on formula and so won’t eat enough food to get adequate nutrition, milk isn’t enough for them at this age. Breastmilk past 1 year old is about the antibodies, comfort etc it provides and isn’t as filling as formula. Ultimately though as long as baby is eating a well balanced diet I don’t think a slightly slower transition would do any harm every LO is different x

My son’s still on his prescription formula. He won’t take anything else so far.

My daughter is still having 1 or 2 bottles of formula a day as she isn't a great eater , but she's having toddler milk. She has a bottle of cows milk in the morning too x
