I got emergency shift for Sick kids , as my new born is in St.Joseph for three 3 days and then he shifted to NICU in sick kids and with in three days he recovered and they shifted him back to St. Michael for observation.. it depends on emergency. Cus sick kids mostly deals on emergencies.
We had a referral sent the day after our child was born and got letter in the mail for appt 3 months later for appt scheduled 3 months after that (when he’ll be 6 months). Based on urgency of issue I believe…

It will likely depend on how urgent the issue is. Most specialist departments book according to when your referral is received to the next available appt but you can get jumped ahead depending on how time sensitive your case is. 100% recommend signing up for mychart for sickkids as well as calling to let them know you will take a cancellation spot last minute if your schedule can accommodate. I tend to follow up to the referred doctor’s office to confirm they got the referral about a week after my office sends it. I’m pretty sure sickkids requires referring physicians to use their online system so it’s highly unlikely the referral can get missed. All in all, our experience with the hip clinic at Sickkids was very positive and they were very efficient at getting back to us fairly quickly.
