Have you tried fun bath toys or adding bubbles? My little boy went through the same thing and it was all because he didn’t want his hair washed. I’ve limited the amount of times I wash his hair, but still make sure he gets a bath but I’ve tried to make it feel more like play time and that seems to gained some of his trust back. Sometimes it takes me getting in with him and cradling him like a baby to get him to let me wash his hair though
My son does this because he knows after bath is bedtime. We just make it fun with bubbles and let him play cars in the bath. They also have bath crayons and what not. We also only wash his hair 2-3 times a week. He usually likes it when I wash his vs his dad because I am super gentle and don't let water get in his eyes
My son went thru this. I would have him come in at the end of my shower and wash him off. If he wanted to stay in after I got out, I would turn on the bath faucet for him.
Maybe try a shower or bathing together. We went through this. Started a “desensitization” experiment. I took the old baby bath and put it in different parts of the house to let my toddler play with it. He would put his toys inside, sit in it, etc. After a few days of this, I added a small amount of water and let him do the same. Then we brought the baby tub into the bathroom floor and did a sponge bath. Then finally he got in the tub.
I want to say my daughter went through thus stage too she eventually got over it I got her bath toys, bath paint and sins foam alapgabet/numbers for her to find the correct ones
It may be the hair washing that’s scary for him! Whenever my son gets his hair washed I try my best not to let the wAter get in his face but he throws a fit which makes it unavoidable & he suddenly hates bath time for the next few days.. My in law got him those water shield headbands & it helps a lot!
@Tasia in the last few baths I gave him i realized it’s definitely that & he’s scared of the spout as well when the water is running! So I put a washcloth over the spout & when I wash his hair have him hold a washcloth over his eyes & it’s seemed to help 😭 I think when my mom bathes him she’s just pours the water over his head which me & my husband never did so it’s like traumatized him or something but I’m glad I figured it out now & bathtime isn’t a hassle anymore 🥵
Sing to him his favorite songs my son is afraid too but we get through it smoothly when we are singing abc 123 or head shoulders knees and toes happy if u know it , songs like that!
