Normal anxiety versus too much?

I’m about 2 weeks out from induction and I’m terrified. I had a good cry today about how scared I am to go through labour. How do I know what’s a normal amount of anxiety versus over the top? No one really talks about being scared. Why can’t I look past the pain of labour?

I think it's quite normal to be scared. Especially if it's your first? I am about to do this 2nd time and I am anxious about it too still! I think it's due to fear of unknown and not having much control over things.. Sooo many possibilities etc so yeah it's quite normal hun! Only thing I'd might suggest if haven't already is just do some research on like labour itself and medications and what's available out there just to get more of a jist of what could happen/what you'd want/ask for etc. Xx Everything will be okay 💗x

I think it’s worse when you have already gone through it before personally as with your first you don’t really know what to expect. Just believe your body is doing a natural thing , it’s not unnatural and just know all is forgotten once you see your baby for the first time. Also recommend taking as much as possible for the pain. No need to be brave and have no pain relief unless it can’t be helped

Same thing happened to me today. This is my first pregnancy and I pretty much had a full on breakdown to my partner this morning. Uncontrollable crying. I’m so scared of the unknown… I’m terrified of labour… hate waiting for her to arrive… no idea what to do when she gets here, but also so excited to become a Mum for the first time. I think it’s just a mixture of emotions and hormones all rolled into one. I feel so much better for talking to my partner about it - I’d just kept it bottled up. But please know you’re not alone & it’s normal. Maybe just try to talk to someone about how you’re feeling even just to get it out. You’re welcome to message me if you need to! X
