Feeling helpless

My son turns 1 in 2 weeks and has always loved his bottle before bed and in the morning. This is the third day he has refused his bottles. I have tried putting the formula into his normal water drinking cup, into a new cup and even tried him on cows milk but he will just not have it all. He is now waking up in the night hungry and is really not settled going to bed without a bottle. What else can I try? Is it ok for a baby of his age just to go off milk compleatly or do they need some more of milk in their diet? Feeling helpless.

I transitioned to a bottle that had a sippy cup top. Maybe try to find something in between bottle and straw/ sippy cup. Also if you don’t transition exactly at 1 it’s not a big deal.

Hi, my son is now a year too! Well, there is some good news to this! They should help you transition From feeding food during the day and him sleeping through the night with no more food, we give our last bottle at 7:30pm Have you tried coconut water as well? It’s a good break from milk to just hydrate them. I still give my son milk too in bottles and water and coconut water and juice in sippy cup.

How does he normally drink liquids? Water/juice etc. try using the same method. Tbh they should still be having milk, but maybe this is a phase? Just make sure he’s getting a good amount of calcium through his food, yogurt, cheese, add milk to readybrek/oats. Maybe try hot chocolate. Farleys rusks have calcium too. Calcium is the important part to help them grow and for their bones xx

In terms of him not settling before bed, just try something else. Getting into a routine cuddles, bedtime story. I hope it is just a phase. It could potentially be teething 🤷🏻‍♀️ xx

Sometimes they go through these phases and actually the fact he’s 1 in 2 weeks he’s probably just weaned himself off. I would contact HV advice line and ask if you can try cows milk and also just get a baby multivitamin, as if they’re taking less that 500mls they need that and he’ll need it with cows milk. NHS Healthy start multivitamin is the best as doesn’t have much taste and no colour x
