Does anyone else make bottles straight from the kettle? Someone said it can kill the nutrients if the water is too hot??

You're meant to wait 30 minutes. There is the hot shot method but thr NHS don't recommend it

Where does it say that? I read it on the kendamil but I thought it was to leave water in kettle for no longer then 30 mins to make sure it’s 70° +

Formula is ultra heat treated to much higher than that anyway so making it with straight boiling water won’t do anything to damage it x

I have a kettle that boils water to 70, 80, 90 & 100 degrees. So make straight from the kettle.

Thanks guys. Yes I was curious because our little boy wakes occasionally for a bottle in the night at no specific time or amount of hours passing therefore I have time make straight from boiling. Flasks don’t last long enough xx

If baby is waking up during the night for a bottle get a rapid cool and do the hot shot method and the bottle will be done in 5 minutes x

@Julia I do that thank you, that’s what I use but going back to it being to hot the water even for a hot shot didn’t no if this was false about it killing nutrients even with a hot shot xx

If I make a bottle slightly in advance I'll boil the kettle first but sometimes there's just not time 🤣 I'm not gonna let my boy scream for half hour haha! I also hot shot

I used to do it like this with my girl , she had no issues

@Lauren yesssss exactly 😂x

I make it straight from the kettle, my LB is thriving, and is actually growing bigger/faster than expected 😂

We boil the kettle, put in 50ml, put the formula in, top up with 70ml (as he is on 120ml) water from the fridge which we have pre boiled. Saved hanging about for half hour and works a treat!

We made ours in batches straight from boiling (or wait around 15 mins after boiled) and then pop them in the fridge and heat up when needed as it was so much quicker. You can store them for up to 24 hours in the fridge (no longer) completely safe and approved by NHS x

I boil the kettle and wait 20mins, but then I make my babys bottles in advance and store in the fridge

If could potentially denature proteins in the milk but realistically probs doesn't make much of a different.

@Tiff get a thermal flask!! i got one from amazon by the brand “milton” and it lasts us all through the night and the day! still boiling hot xx

I boil the kettle and leave it 10 mins. Then I’ll make the bottle. Still is hot enough to kill bacteria but it’s no longer boiling hot xx

I am the only one that let the boiled water cool down completely and preserve it to make bottles later according to baby’s needs? I am doing something wrong

@Cody i have had 4 diff flasks the one I have now tells you the temp it’s from Amazon but after 4 hours all of them go below 70°. They feel like there boiling stilll but temp wise there never hot enough to last the night x

@Danielle do you pre make the formula in the bottles then?

@Amy see I thought that but health visitors say don’t do it but nhs says fine x

@Nikita yes mine tooo! I just noticed his skin is getting dry on his legs and I thought what if it’s from lack of vitamin! Then read that to hot could kill nutrients hopefully doesn’t then if everyone else seems to kinda do it from boiling x

@Danielle the water has to be at least 70 degrees to kill any bacteria in the formula so does that mean you're making the bottles with cooled water instead of hot?

@Danielle you're making bottles with the cooled water?

My HV said you can just wait 5 mins
