Pram Recs

Hi all! I’m choosing between the Bugaboo Dragonfly (bundle with car seat) and Mamas & Papas Occaro. Any suggestions or other recs? I’m 5ft so looking for something light and safe. I don’t have a car or a lot of storage at home also!

Have you looked at Oyster? That’s the one I wish I had. I’ve got the Ocarro and it’s fine but there are a few things I don’t like about it such as I find it a bit clunky to use sometimes when swapping seat attachments, I’m often found swearing at it when the seat won’t release!

We just went to the baby show in London and spoke to experts. We are sold on the bugaboo dragonfly The expert who worked for bugaboo said he actually thinks cybex is better at the car seat and they are comparable together so if you don’t need a car seat could probably go without

Bugaboo car seat is not a good choice as it puts baby in a bad position so maybe see if you can swap to something else if you go for the dragon fly

I got the ocarro and as soon as I bought the joolz aer+ for travelling I never used it again. It’s very heavy and I struggled to get it in and out of my house. The brake sticks all the time and I was constantly fighting to get it off at traffic lights. Obviously the selling point is that it’s good on all terrain but it’s not a true off-roader like the Out’n’about so I just felt like it was the worst of both worlds. It’s actually easier to push the light Joolz about on difficult surfaces. I’ve actually just got the Joolz carrycot to use with my second and two weeks in it is AMAZING. Wish I’d just bought a lightweight pram from the get go.

I had the Occaro, absolutely loved it and it felt safe however I wouldn’t say it’s light. It’s definitely got some weight.

We tried both of those but ended up with the cybex balios as felt a bit lighter but still sturdy. We use the cot for naps, she sleeps better in there than her actual cot!

I have the bugaboo dragonfly and live in London. It is awful, leaves get stuck to the wheels all the time, it’s not sturdy on the pavements and I’ve had 3 issues with it which they’ve had to repair in the 2 months that I’ve had it. I’m currently looking for a new pram

Nuna is the lightest one and we’ve been told will fit in our corsa!

Love my occaro! 8 months in and still love it and use it daily

Occasionally basket is not very accessible at all. Really put me off it.

I’ve got the Ocarro and I’m the same height as you- I find it easy to push and fold up but a bit heavy to lift in and out of the car or up steps. It feels like a super sturdy pram if you’re planning on doing lots of walking and it’s got big wheels so easy to get on and off trains/buses etc. just a bit heavier than I anticipated- when I used the bassinet it was fine as the base isn’t that heavy on its own (you remove the bassinet first and then fold the base) but when the pushchair is on, it all folds up together which makes it great for space/storage but much heavier! I’ve bought a travel pushchair for holidays as I don’t think I could carry the occaro x

The mamas and papas flip XT is a slightly lighter version of the ocarro, I got it as found the ocarro too heavy. I love my pram tho it’s fab so definitely recommend xx

We originally got the baby zen yoyo, but found it to have a very poorly positioned seat for toddlers. We switched to a Nina triv next and have no complaints. Even fits in a car fine with the seat left on or taken off.

Nuna

I have the occaro and it is nice and comfy but just bear in mind it's very heavy and large. It takes up the entire of my boot and is a struggle to lift. It's wise to get through narrow doors and shops. The dragon fly is lovely and light but doesn't corner well or manage all terrain as well.

I don’t use a system but I don’t know what the Dragonfly is but I did have the Bugaboo Fox and that lasted him 4yrs, we used the bassinet/carrycot part until he was 6m then changed over to the seat. I’m also 5”1, it was the perfect pram for me. I don’t take the car seat out though, that stays in the car. It was the one and only pram he used. I bought a liner, footmuff, another hood color, and it came w mozzie net and waterproof cover. I did buy a buggy seat attached to the back for my other friends’ kids for if they wanted to stand on they could (or he does). And the bassinet part I brought into other peoples houses and he napped in that as a newborn

We’ve got the Joolz Aer+ with bassinet and we’re so happy with it. We live in London and have family in Amsterdam so it works well for us with getting around and travelling in the city. If I didn’t have to go lightweight I would have gone for Joolz Hub+ or Joolz Day5 🙏 Pram choices are so personal though!
