Possible asthma

So my little girl might have asthma, she's on antihistamines for 8 weeks to see if they help and if not next is a steriod inhaler but they can't check if it is asthma till she's older. She always has a cough but getting the cold or a viral infection makes it so much worse. At nights almost every night for the past 2 weeks she has coughing attacks to the point her face is bright red and her lips are purple/blue which is so scary. Does anyone have little ones with asthma and if they do did it start like this?

although they don’t diagnose, my son is on the steroid inhaler daily with probable asthma. His wasn’t so much coughing more wheezing episodes that happened a few times. The inhaler has helped massively. Even though they can’t check for asthma, they can still treat symptoms with asthma treatments like inhalers.

If the cough is chronic, there’s a chance it could be allergy related. Have they referred for testing? My son had to have testing etc done. Also has a history of eczema

My little one has asthma and was in hosp 9 out of 12 months 🤦🏻‍♀️ Whenever she got a cold or cough we ended up in hospital. They won’t diagnose her as asthma as they said she is too young but they are treating it as though it is. She is also allergic to cats and dogs which they said could also cause the triggers. Also has eczema. She is on brown steroid inhaler, blue inhaler and granuals. We had to push quite hard with the hospital but now as soon as she gets a cold or a cough we put her straight onto her blue inhaler every four hours (the amount of puffs depends on how bad she is) and since doing this (touch wood!) we haven’t been in hospital since Feb xx

We have found calcough really calms the coughing and is fine for her breathing xx
