My c section was nothing to do with midwife, it was the consultant. Have you been specifically contacting your midwife about it? I’m not sure if that makes any difference but my midwife didn’t even have any idea I was having one, nevermind that it was booked, until I told her.
I just noticed you're not far from me and this happened to me. (Could be same hospital) I was told I'll get my date for 39 weeks but never did, I chased them and they said they were really busy could now be anytime up to 41 weeks with 24 hours notice. I ended up going into labour at 39+ 2, so went into triage and straight down to theatre.
Have you seen a consultant to agree to a c section?
I get that it depends on area/waiting times/busy-ness etc but this seems ridiculous. I told my midwife I wanted an elective c-section at 35 weeks, she arranged with a meeting with a consultant that week and I got a date the next day.
I think and I may be wrong could just be what happened with me is if you’ve elected for a c section regardless of whether you get a date or not that is your preference for birth they have to do it- I went into spontaneous labour 3 weeks before the date they gave me and they still did the c section. I would contact maternity directly or if you have a named consultant see if you can speak to their secretary and see what’s going on. x
My obgyn scheduled my c section weeks in advance. If you already know and decided thats your birth plan then i don't know why your obgyn hasn't scheduled it yet. Maybe call the hospital and take a tour and schedule it then ? Good luck mama.
I have called the hospital multiple times already I called triage I called pregnancy unit I texted the midwife no one seems to care just saying yeah I will contact them to call you and no one ever calls back .. and I really don’t wanna end up having it after my due date i don’t even know if I should just keep being annoying and calling them constantly until they sort it .. and I’m sure they already fully will be booked for this week and that’s just ridiculous
@Vanessza go down to the hospital and go into the department where the pregnancy consultants are and demand to speak to one tell them you won't be leaving until you've spoken to them and that you have direct contact with the head of the NHS trust and you will be putting a serious complaint in if you don't speak to a consultant today. It usually works to get you seen
@Hannah you are correct the only time they won't do it is if spontaneous labour has started and you're close to 10cm already then you have to push as by the time they get you into theatre baby is usually there
I got my date at about 30 weeks with my consultant for 39 weeks exactly
My previous OB did the same thing with my first born. I told her I already experienced contractions since 36 weeks and all she can do is suggest me to directly go to L&D if I experience contractions again and told the L&D team I already on the list. So I ended up directly went to L&D at 38 weeks due to regular contractions with 3cm dilatation and did what my OB told me and the L&D team told me my name is not even on the list and they need to call my drs. I’m not prepared at all and I need to wait 7 more hours with painful contractions cause I ate egg in the morning and I can’t be treated asap. This time with my second I tell my current OB to make it scheduled and make sure my name is registered before I hit 35 weeks and last week they told me to choose the date and make sure I will not experience any hardship like my first.
