@Angel thank you Angel for your reply. I had PPO with my first pregnancy. Then switched to POS, I just saw that my obgy is still in the network with my current plan. Is it that the only big difference? Just going to wider range of specialists for PPO?
Sure, no problem. Yes, PPO gives you more freedom to choose and lower deductibles. Meaning the amount you need to pay out of pocket before your insurance starts covering a larger portion of your medical expenses will be less. If you’re comfortable with the POS network and don’t mind referrals, the POS II can save on premiums while still covering standard pregnancy related expenses.
@Angel I see I see, ok great! Thank you for the information. Super helpful.
Look at your deductible and max out of pocket costs for both. And compare the difference in premium. If you get pregnant you'll likely meet the deductible even if it's very high. But sometimes the difference in premium is so much it doesn't matter.
PPO offers a wider network of providers and more freedom to see specialists without referrals. This can be helpful if you want to choose specific doctors or facilities, particularly for prenatal or delivery care. Generally comes with higher premiums and lower deductibles, which can be beneficial if you anticipate frequent care or visits due to pregnancy. Out of pocket costs may be more predictable with a PPO. If you’re leaning towards being fully prepared and want maximum flexibility, a PPO might be a safer bet, especially if it’s likely you’ll be seeing specialists. However, if you want to save on premiums and don’t mind a bit more structure, POS II could be an economical choice. We have PPO.
