Tan/White poop

Anyone else’s toddler ever had pale discolored poop? I’m almost certain it’s the whole milk that has my daughter constipated and pooping in white. Would love to hear from other moms who have been through the same thing.

My son has pale poop whenever he drinks too much milk. It doesn’t last over 2 days though

I literally just took a photo of my daughter’s poop bc I was so weirded out at the whiteness of it! Glad there’s a normal reason.

I was told by my sons pediatrician that white isn’t good.. obviously I don’t know much and don’t want to freak anyone out but maybe contact their doctor if it continues…

That happens when they get to much milk 🩵

@Ana Moore it’s been more than 2 days and she’s uncomfortable every time she passes stool. Looks like whole milk isn’t agreeing with her.

@Madeline i was weirded out too! At first I thought ok it’s the transition to whole milk because that’s the only thing I’ve done different but now she’s constipated and it’s persisted for a few days. Today it’s finally back to normal after cutting back on milk, thank God 🙏🏻

@Allison Varner my fiancé told me the doctor was more concerned with the fact that my daughter is still breastfeeding and suggested cutting back in breast milk and the whole milk while also trying to give her Miralax every day for a month for constipation. What goes on in the health care system now? These doctors give alarming solutions sometimes.

@Lynda thank you 🙏🏻 that’s what I was assuming but after going to the doctors it left me even more worried so I wanted to hear from other moms before freaking out

How long has she been on whole milk? My baby was constipated when I switched her fully to whole milk. Her poo was pale yellow and sooo hard. There were times I had to help her take it out. Try adding a constipation relief and more fiber rich foods and honestly it takes time for her tummy to get used to the whole milk. My baby took 1-2 weeks to finally have softer stool. She’s 15 months now and will get soft yellow stool when she drinks too much milk (usually when she decides to be picky about eating any food)

@Dee Thank you. It’s been just about a week or two. At first it wasn’t too bad but now it pale poop and it’s painful for her when she passes stool. She’s gone 24 hours with whole milk and is doing better. I definitely started making those pear and kale purées and lots of water and raspberries. She’s teething as well so poor munchkin doesn’t have much of an appetite which is why we were giving her more milk but it justconstipated her and made it worse. To be honest I’m thinking of doing toddler milk instead of whole milk. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It might be more gentle on her digestive system.

Seems like you figured it out. But I have heard that white poop is a sign of lactose disagreement or overage. Do you notice any difference if you stop giving her whole milk? Or is that even possible? I know taking milk away from a toddler is almost impossible lol.

I have a toddler who I believe inherited my terrible digestive issues so we regularly give her prune juice mixed with water. About 2-4 ounces every other day. We have noticed a huge difference since we started that about a week ago. We started a food journal for her when we noticed that constipation seemed like a regular thing for our poor girl. Turns out, BANANAS are the culprit. Which is so unfortunate cause it’s such an easy, filling & nutrient full snack. But it is what it is. Sorry, this comment turned into more of a rant lol. Hope it helps a little bit though.

@Kaela absolutely noticed a different after going about 24 hours with absolutely no whole milk. Her poop changed drastically… back to being brown and not pebble like. What helps is that I still breast feed my 15 month old. And instead of prune juice we did pear or papaya juice which also helped a lot. I feel like since my daughter isn’t really a picky eater and enjoys solid foods it’s not too bad minimizing her milk intake. But since she’s been teething and was a little feverish she didn’t really want to eat so that’s why her grandma was trying to compensate by giving her more milk. Thanks for the feedback!
