@Gemma perfect thanks so much, I’ll check them out 👍🏻
Second Tin Can knits. Really loving a cardigan by them called “Jones” they are very size inclusive too from baby up to men’s and woman’s adult sizes. What’s the pattern you want to try? Is it cables etc or more colour work?
@Sarah ooh cool thanks! The pattern I want to try is this one https://www.kolibri-by-johanna.de/product-page/knitting-pattern-jean-sweater
@Lucy that’s gorgeous! I always find you tube a good tool as you can type the stitch in and get visual help on how to do that stitch.
@Sarah yeah that’s a good idea, I’m a big YouTube fan for knitting help too as I’m more of a visual learner
I imagine when they say it "doesn't hold your hand" they mean it's written instructions for the stitches in the pattern aren't great. It's a beautiful pattern but it's not too complex, I don't think you need a trial, you just need to get the help you need elsewhere. Make sure you watch a basic video on YouTube for following a chart, so you have the basics (like how you read it depending on whether it's knit flat or in the round). Print it out, look up each symbol or stitch abbreviation and make k more that make sense to you, and swatch! Always swatch! This will make sure you understand the chart and that you're knitting the right size. Happy to help if you have any questions
@Emma thank you! I’ve read the pattern a couple of times and I’m still baffled, I think I’m not experienced enough for this yet unfortunately. All of the knitting charts that I’ve looked at to try and help me understand charts have been square or rectangle but this one is in a kinda triangle shape which I’m immediately confused by 🧐
Tin can knits patterns are really easy to follow - lots of sizes and some are free - not all their patterns have charts so you will probably need to have a look to see which ones do but think you can do a refined search for individual designers on Rav. If you search ‘tin can knits chart’ they have a few blog posts on how to read charts too. Also, a tip for charts, use stitch markers to indicate pattern repeats, it can really help!
