I don’t know what to do

My baby just turned 8 weeks yesterday and he cries constantly and has since birth. I’m so sad, I feel like such a bad mom not being able to help him. He’s ebf but I have tried goat milk formula and nutramigen to see if maybe he has a dairy issue. I’ve also tried cutting dairy, caffeine, gluten out of my diet to see if it helps. It hasn’t. He’s on reflux medication which seems to help a bit. But he legit will scream cry all day everyday unless he’s eating or asleep. Pediatrician says colic, but I hate that term because it’s just a symptom not a diagnosis. Like yes he does cry a ton but why? I understand babies cry a lot, but this is excessive and constant and he seems to be so sad and in pain :( i just feel shitty and like such a bad mom.

I'm so sorry ❤️ that sounds so so difficult. My baby is a bit colicky at night and I find that hard enough let alone all day as well. It's absolutely NOT your fault and the fact you've done so much to try and remedy it shows you're in fact a super responsible mum and noone is giving you a remedy. I've heard that they outgrow it by 3 months so hopefully at s push you've only got a few weeks left of this and it should subside naturally. Hang on in there and remember you are being a wonderful mother and doing your best for your baby ❤️

Hiya, first time mum here to a two year old who cried constantly too - it’s hard and so incredibly upsetting. The cause of his “colic” was tongue tie - has this been checked? X

I was the same, breast milk wasn’t filling him unless glued to me 24/7. Had to introduce a bottle or two of formula a day to settle him

@Jazmin he did get checked for a tongue tie by the pediatrician and a lactation consultant, he doesn’t have one.

@Caitlin I fed him and now my husbands giving him a couple oz’s of formula! Hopefully it helps

My baby was the same until 3 months and then it suddenly stopped. He is a healthy, happy 8 month old now. We were combi feeding and looking back think he was overfeeding from the bottle but it can be a whole array of things - gas, constipation, reflux.. It does get better!

Hope you’re ok! Tummy exercises and infacol before every feed helped my baby plus Dentinox on a bad day xx

have you tried pumping for as long as he usually feeds to get a rough idea of your supply and then figuring out if maybe he needs more? My little girl was also 8 weeks yesterday but formula fed and she’s on around 5/6oz a feed (i know each baby is different) x

So sorry you’re going through this. Birth is a very traumatic experience and can be for the babies too. Gripe water for the gas. And also, I’ve seen a lot of people swear on adjustments for babies. I started going to a family chiro for hip pain I was having as recommended by my doula. They adjust babies too. They do their own baby and my doulas. I plan to take my baby

How long did you try nutramigen? And did you try the next stage formula? It could well be an allergy and if it is it'll take 6 weeks to settle but will improve rapidly on the right formula. Both my kids have cmpa but my eldests was severe and once we got on the right formula he was miles better

@A’Lona I second this comment!! Osteopaths are great too!

Try giving him some gripe water and try to burp him out after every feed Mostly it’s the gas trapped inside try to lift his knees to stomach this helps release the gas I tried this to my LO it helped him a lot He will be fine

I know this sounds bonkers but have you been to see a chiropractor? Some babies have tension from the birth that needs releasing and it can make them cry a lot. If you’ve tried all of this and nothing at all is working, I would say it’s not necessarily food related. You’re doing an amazing job lovely, you will get to the bottom of it 🫶🏻

@Betty we did try a chiropractor! It helped a tiny bit, we’re still keeping up with it
