Struggling to poop

My 8 month old has been having a hard time pooping. He gets so red and cries like he’s in pain and he only poop like as small as a quarter. He’s on formula and here and there he will sometimes have baby food. Which is still kind of new to his diet. I’m not sure what to do. I haven’t really seen a full dirty diaper in quite some time. I have gripe water on hand and constipation ease by mommy’s bliss. Any suggestions?

How long has it been since he's had a normal poop? Have you changed his formula? And it he's struggling and in pain call his pediatrician.

@Bri yeah I may need to change back but the formula I usually get is always out of stock 🙄 he’s been on this new one for two weeks maybe . At first it was really bad and he was struggling to go. I haven’t seen a regular bowel in days. I may have to call his pediatrician tomorrow. He pees but he poops quite rarely since the change

Hi! My infant was like that as soon as he started formula after breastfeeding! It even got so bad that he developed a fever from trying to push so hard 😭 I tried all the things that doctors suggested and even went as far as to give him suppositories and miralax.. I ended up seeing an alternative provider who gave me some recommendations that have been completely life-changing for us! Bear with me- warm bananas with ghee, probiotics every day and pure sesame oil to lather every night after his bath. I know these sound super strange but it’s worked wonders for us and my son (now 2) hasn’t had constipation for over a year. I know how disheartening it is for your momma heart to see him in pain so best of luck and it will resolve! Follow your gut instincts and trust that you know what’s best for him ❤️🙏🏼
