My daughter averagely drinks 4oz but sometimes it's only 2. We also feed on demand. I tend to go by wet and dirty nappies and weight gain more than ozs as every baby is different x
Yep you are not alone! My little boy is 13 weeks old, I make up 5oz bottles every time and usually he drinks about 4oz (sometimes only 2.5/3) and rarely finishes a bottle. Mentioned it to the health visitor and the GP and they weren’t overly concerned because he feeds every 3 hours (not 4) so is still getting his required amount daily. But I know it worries you as I was seeing mums with babies weeks younger than mine and they were easily draining 5oz bottles ☹️ just got to remember every baby is different and comparison is the thief of joy x
My first baby never took more than 3 ounce at a time until she was one year old, i was so worried and she had slow weight gain. They recommended I offer 3oz but more frequently rather than a bigger bottle every few hours. She had reflux and o think that’s why she struggled
Mine is the same and his 11 weeks old xx
Mine is the same - sometimes he’ll have 80ml other times it’s 120. I’ve been told to try avoid snack feeding (like 30mls or whatever) but sometimes if he’s fallen asleep that’s what he wants to just top him up. He feeds usually every 2-3 hours. Sometimes a little more frequently depending on previous amount. Combi fed ebm and formula
@Nina exactly the same here! My girl is also 13 weeks and I make 5oz but most of the time she won’t drink it all. Sometimes 4 but quite often only 3. It worries me but she is happy and healthy, she doesn’t wake up crying or asking for food (I wake her in the morning after 10 hours without a bottle) and even then she isn’t hungry! I give her 30 mins and then she will sometimes finish the 4oz but usually not 🤦🏼♀️ The past couple of days I have been pushing slightly past the 3 hours (around 3.5) and she is taking a bit more so I’m going to stick with that for now. All babies are different and mine just isn’t a very hungry girl so as long as she is still gaining weight and is happy then I’m happy 🤷🏼♀️
Yeah my little boy is the same. Make up 4oz an he rarely finishes it! Wakes every 3hrs overnight an sometimes will only take 2oz! It's so hard when you are out for the day an trying to plan! But I'm just trying to go with it x
Mine is breastfed about 60% of the time so no idea what he’s getting but when he does take a bottle (usually expressed milk, occasionally formula or a cocktail) the most he’s ever managed was 5, usually 4 or just over. Same as u, lots of wet nappies etc so I’m trying not to worry even though this age he could apparently get up to 7oz a bottle
I wouldn't get too caught up on volume. As you say, she has wet nappies, is content and gaining weight - those are the most important things! She'll soon let you know when she needs bigger bottles! Our little one is combifed, 12 weeks and the exact same - I make up 120ml bottles and sometimes he drains it, other times he'll just take half but he's happy and healthy so I'm just going to carry on! X
