I'll add that she also had a bit of a temperature that night so we dressed her in less layers and in a lighter sleeping bag for night time so that she didn't overheat which seemed to make her more comfortable
I was exactly the same, I know how you feel! My son cried a lot when getting them, which will happen and is normal. We gave him Calpol straight after, when we got home. He was sleepy, agitated and did not have much of his bottles the same day - he wanted to be held a lot which we did. He had a slight temperature the next morning but Calpol helped a lot. We gave him 3 doses on the first day every 4-6 hours. Then 2 doses the following day. If your little one is also having the rotavirus drops, she may have a bit of a runny upset tummy but it will pass. Just be sure to wash your hands really good/ practice normal good hygiene after changing her as the virus passes into their nappies. My son was back to himself in three days x
Here for the comments - my little one had his injection this afternoon😩
My boy had his jabs a week ago and I was really nervous about it too. It ended up being totally fine. He screamed when he got the injections - obviously because they don't expect it! But he calmed down quickly with comforting and cuddles. We gave him Calpol there and then - nurse suggested it - and then he slept most of the afternoon. He was a bit off because his cry sounded differently to his normal crying, but the night was ok and by the next morning he was back to normal
My boy has had his today, GP said give calpol an hour before. Checked him over then gave the vaccs. He screamed for a second, had a cuddle, fell asleep on the way home and has been attached to the boob since we got back and been super sleepy. GP said to give 3 doses of calpol 4 hours apart then if he has a fever give a 4th but to monitor that ourselves x
@Charlotte hope it all goes okay, I’m sure it will! x
@Jess @Jade @Nina @Skye thank you all for your replies, definitely helping out a VERY anxious first time mum who overthinks everything!!x
Give your baby calpol half an hour before your baby has the appointment. My boy screamed when he had the injections but calmed down almost straight away. He then slept most of the day, he had a fever but after 16 hours the fever broke and he has been fine since. If your baby gets a fever make sure that they are in thin layers ( my boy wore a vest to bed with a very thin cellular blanket)and keep offering milk ( room temperature) to make sure they stay hydrated and help cool them down.
My baby cried for a few seconds, had a mummy cuddle and calmed right down. We gave her calpol and she was fine. Very sleepy for 2-3 days. Other than that she was fine. She did have a temp the first 24 hours but calpol bought that down
My little girl cried for literally two seconds getting them done, she was really easy to calm, we gave her some Calpol as soon as we got in the car to drive home. We gave her 3 doses of Calpol 4 hours apart and that was it, she never developed a temperature but we couldn’t put her down all day and all night, we had to hold her because she would just cry until she went purple, it was horrible to see 😭 She was back to her normal self the next day though and we haven’t had any problems since, we’ve got her next lot of jabs next week and I’m dreading it 😭
when getting the rotavirus drops my boy was half asleep - then when he got the actual jabs themselves he cried for about 2 minutes and then he was fine and went to sleep - still gave him calpol when we got home and again 5 hours later but he was mostly fine - a lot more sleepy and clingy but my boys always been a cling on. I was more upset than he was!! It’ll be okay girl - just remember the reason she’s getting the jabs in the first place! xx
Hi I was nervous too ours were yesterday! My baby was asleep when first injection went in… this made him cry but then he went back to sleep after the second injection… I can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in him since although he slept better last night and I’m hoping that’s not just because if the jabs!!! X
My little boy, cried for 10 seconds. Had Calpol straight after and 4 hours later, then another 4. Was sleepier than usual. And a bit grumpy the following morning. But really not as bad as expected at all.
@Jen he cried when they injected him in both legs. Gave him capol 15mins after appointment. He seems to be fine but really fussy and keeps crying sometimes in his sleep then wakes up 😩. So far no fever yet -had our appointment at 3:40pm. For his BCG vaccine he didn’t cry one bit.

I thought he’d be worse than he was but he didn’t even cry very much when the nurse did them. She showed me how to give him the Calpol so that he didn’t spit it all up. Then I gave him two more doses that day. Apart from feeding, he pretty much slept all day and all night. I could tell he was a little sad that first and second day, but he was pretty much back his normal self by the third day.
My baby absolutely screamed while having the injections, but after a bit of comforting while still there she calmed down quite quickly, I gave her Calpol as soon as we got home and she was fine for most of the afternoon. She started getting a bit grizzly as the first dose of Calpol wore off and I found she was a lot harder to settle when she was tired. We then had quite a fussy evening, she just needed lots of cuddles and comforting, she did sleep fine that night though then was still a bit fussier than usual the next day so I gave her some more Calpol which seemed to help. I'm not sure if it was to do with the injections but she went more than 4 days without pooping after the jabs so I feel like it affected her stomach.
