Baby won’t feed herself

I’m struggling big time. My LG just continuously plays with food unless it’s foods she knows. I’ve given her a different pasta shape yesterday and she kept throwing it so I’ve had to hand feed her. She’ll eat everything just fine, but for the love of god, she won’t put anything in her mouth she’s unfamiliar with. She’ll eat it from my hand to have a taste but won’t feed herself😭 Any advise, tips? I can’t be asked hand feeding her each meal and I don’t want her to eat the same foods over and over again.

Following as I have a similar problem. How old is your little girl?

She’s 11 months @Monika and point blank refuses to pick up new meals/foods to try. It’s so annoying 😭

My little boy is 11 months as well and we're going through something similar. He would eat anything but only if I give it to him with my hand, he would not put the spoon in his mouth - he's playing with it, and any food in front of him he plays with, smashes and throws on the floor, even enjoys throwing it as we have dogs and he likes seeing the dogs eating 🙈 So ... he doesn't feed himself 🫢 and what got me worried is that at the last pediatrician revision he's lost about 60g instesd of gaining weight 😔

Are you eating the same thing as her at the same time? You handing it to her signals to her that it's safe to eat. Even showing it coming off your plate and onto hers can tell her it's safe to eat

All the time @Chrissy that’s how I got her to eat by herself in the first place. Now if she doesn’t recognise it, she just throws it even tho I’m eating it and exaggerating of how nice it is 🥴🥴

Same story here! 😔

This is veeeeeery normal! I take the food away if my son starts throwing everything and I give him a minute to calm down. I explain that we don’t throw food on the floor and give one piece for him to try. He remembers that he likes the food and usually he goes back eating. We do that as many times is necessary. He is 15 months now and only throws food whenever he is done and we miss the “all done” sign that he does for one second 😂

@Ana Moore great idea! will try this when my baby girl tries that😂
