Has anyone else been through this?

Going out of my mind here with worry. My 13 month old girl for the last 2.5 weeks has had very explosive, loose, watery poos. No other symptoms, no temp, no vomiting. I took her to the doctors after a week and they suggested it could be a temporary lactose intolerance after an infection, to cut dairy out and see how things go. I took her back after 2 days because there was no change, they said they'll do a stool sample just in case which I am still waiting on the results for. It's been 9 days of no dairy and today she has done two explosive watery poos. I am just so confused as to what it could be, she's ok in herself, a bit grizzly at times but she does have her incisors coming through! Very worried mama right now

My 13 month old is like this when teething so it maybe something like that? The intolerance could be it, but remember it takes 6 weeks for something to leave babies body. My girls both have cmpa so can’t have any dairy, but if they slip up at any point it can take 6 weeks for them to fully get better. So really you need to be dairy free for 6 weeks to know for sure if that’s what it is. Then stay off dairy for a while (usually 3-6 months) and try dairy again, if you see the same problems then it confirms the allergy. It can be normal when babies have had a poorly tummy from an illness that the next few months their bodies just can’t cope with dairy, so it maybe that We had to do a stool sample with my eldest and it took 2 days for the results to come through, however the doctor never called us to confirm as there was no issue so maybe worth giving the doctor a call if you haven’t heard from them as the results may be back x

@Danielle G thank you so much! I didn't realise it could take that long to leave their bodies 😢 I take it you have to be so careful with anything you give them? She's taken to oat milk brilliantly, just a shame we've had to cut out greek yoghurt etc as she loves that We were told after 2 weeks to start reintroducing and if no improvement we've to go back. I chased them today for the results and they told me it can take up to 5 days 🥴

@Faye honestly doctors don’t have a clue when it comes to allergies, my doctor actually told me he had a couple hours talk about allergies but no actual training, so some doctors do further research into it but others just aren’t clued up about it and say all the wrong information! Anytime I had an issue or needed some medication for them I had to research it, print the information off google and take it to the doctor who then read it and was like yeah sure I’ll prescribe it 😅 (we have a new doctor now) You need to watch cross contamination too, we had issues where I was drinking coffee, then kissed my baby and she was reacting and it took us way too long to realise that’s what it was…. It’s hard work but hopefully your little one gets over it asap! Xx
