Tonsillitis keeps vomiting!

Hey everyone! I’m so beyond stressed right now… my 10 month old baby has caught tonsillitis and it’s been going on and off for last month. But the last 2 weeks have been the worst as he can’t keep any food down even sometimes breast milk he brings up. We went to A&E and they gave him difflam spray which seemed to have calmed down the vomiting but the doctor said only to use for 3 days so today we stopped… and he’s still refusing food but he vomited out the breast milk again 😭 He is drinking water so he’s getting fluids luckily but I’m so worried as he’s definitely lost weight. Has anyone gone through this?? Any advice?? I’m planning to call GP in the morning to make another appointment as it’s one thing dealing with the cough and runny nose… but not wanting his food and not able to keep down all his breastmilk is breaking my heart 💔

he probably will need antibiotics to resolve this as the spray itself won’t help much. Check with your GP and say he has lost weight so they will act quickly. My boy has tonsillitis recently and lost his appetite since then too. Just hoping he will eat well again soon!

Get to the drs. If tonsillitis is left untreated, it can cause serious problems. I had tonsillitis so bad once, from not fault of my own. Drs prescripted antibiotics for me but told me if I didn't get any within 24hrs I had to go to A&E, no one had them in stock so the next morning I went to A&E and was admitted. I couldn't eat, drink, couldn't even swallow my saliva. I was also sick on the friday night too. My throat had closed up. Was put on a drip and kept overnight. I started getting poorly on Friday afternoon, and by Monday morning was when I saw my GP. I even went meddoc the Friday and told it was only acute and just take paracetamol and ibuprofen. It can turn so quick, and I just wouldn't risk it. I'm not saying your little one will get as poorly as I was, but I definitely suggest pushing for antibiotics. X

Thank you both for your comments! I had a feeling antibiotics would be the next step but everytime we suggested it the doctors would say no breastmilk is all he needs … but this has gone on too long and I hate my baby is losing weight now so I will push for antibiotics- thank you!
