Ready made bottles are great! They are served at room temperature - try them a week before to see if LO accepts them. Take some pre sterilised bottles and you are good to go! Car seat, pram, cot all this is free to check in. Feed on take off and landing to help their ears (when actually taking off not taxiing) take a little nappy purse wjth you to the toilet as space is tight! if under 1 it will be super easy!! book a bassinet seat with the extra leg room take a pillow from your bed far comfort if baby sleeps on you
Hey hun! Best of luck! I travelled with my formula fed baby at 6 months old. Do not bring ready made formula as they have to check each bottle. I flew from heathrow and I had one formula powder tin, they checked it and I was told thank you for only bringing one can as it saves us from having to throw away opened formula once they test it. Once i was settled waiting for boarding, I then filled up the tommee tippee formula dispensers for 6 feeds in my diaper bag along with 6 bottles and put the formula tin in my carry on. My son only had one bottle for take off and slept through the whole flight but i would’ve been prepared with extra bottles if I needed them. I also got the Nuby Rapid Cool and its made trips so much easier even outside of travelling. Highly recommend getting the baby headphones. They were so useful for me. I also brought a suction spinny toy off amazon and he did use it on the return flight. All can be purchased on amazon!!
I did travel alone without my husband so if you have help you’ll be even better! If alone, baby wear!! You cant babywear for take off or landing. But I had packed my ergobaby carrier. Wore it throughout the airport and put it on after going through security. Upon take off, he was sat on my lap and once okay I popped him back in the carrier and found that less straining on my back and shoulders for the duration of the flight. I didnt bring a stroller as mine was not compact. Also, If you want links message me and ill send them over!!
@Noon that’s crazy! They do not and should not test SEALED milk and baby food. Poster it’s totally fine to take pre made formula. https://www.aptaclub.co.uk/products/milk-formulas/aptamil/0-6-months/aptamil-infant-formula-200-ml.html
@Francesca in my experience, they broke the seal to test the formula 🤷🏽♀️ definitely worth contacting the airline or airport prior. Hence why I mentioned I travelled from Heathrow. Best of luck in your travels poster! x
@Noon so it will be a good idea to get the whole formula box rather then have it in a formula dispenser? I have a mam formula dispenser which hold three feeds, but now I’m thinking he may want more as you never know how long it might take for the flight and the ride to the destination
@Francesca so if I get this they will open it and I can’t use it?
They do not open pre-made formula so you can take through as much as you like and if you don’t use it save it for another day.
@Fiona I feel like it would be easier to have pre-made formula, but my baby likes his milk to be warm so I would still need a way to warm it up, I use mam bottles and don’t know if bottle warmers work with them as they are thicker and wider.
@Noon how frustrating for you! I’ve flown in and out of Heathrow 20 plus times with the ready made bottles I have posed above and that has never happened to me. I honestly don’t think they are allowed to. It’s food for your baby!!
@Gabriela the pre made bottles as per my link they don’t break the seal and open.
@Gabriela just get the cabin crew to stick it in a water jug of hot water. Or take a container with you. It’s just to take the chill of them as until opened they don’t need to be kept in a fridge I personally would before you go get your baby on these at room temp to get them used to it
@Gabriela yes the other ones are 200ml. You said you had MAM bottles? They stay sterilised for 24hrs just take a few of them with you?
@Gabriela hmm im not sure as based on the thread theyre not allowed to break the seal to test anyways…… i would recommend calling just to make sure or better yet emailing so you have it on paper. I would recommend however having a backup to account for delays!

@Francesca i agree! I was really stressed ngl so i just picked my battles 😅 good to know though for future babies as my son drinks whole milk now!
We got hot water at the coffee shops to warm up our milk. We brought a portable thermometer because it's much easier that way. I brought bottle wipes for easy clean up. Baby bags do not count against your carry ons, but double check the airline website. They'll have info on what carriers and how/ where to check them too. Ours slept most of the flight with the noise, but have a bottle ready for take off and landing.
