For those who initially wanted a doula did you change your mind and went through labor without one? If so what made you change your mind?

Had my second conversation through Ft and I’m Not sure yet if I’m feeling it. She does seem very informative but just having someone I barely know there idk if I should.

My doula kept missing our scheduled meetings together so i ditched her and used my husband instead. He did an incredible job. So glad I didn’t use the doula.

I personally wouldn’t take the chance, my friend had a home birth with a doula and her perfectly healthy daughter didn’t make it. But if you’re going to be at the hospital, I don’t feel I needed a doula. The nurses were great

I had a doula. Morning of my induction (30 minutes before) she text me that she couldn’t make it. Never heard from her again until about 7 months later when she emailed asking for reviews and for me to refer her 🥴

@Daija wow smh the nerve

I'm not choosing a doula I don't trust people

i think you should only hire one if you feel some sort of connection with her. do interviews until you find “the one”. i had one in the hospital and she was amazing. i truly feel it would have been so much harder without her, and i’ll hopefully hire her again next time

Right we wanted one because it was twins Incase they had to be separated but it lucked out and I’m glad it was just my husband

@Izzie it’s a free doula from a program through the government n I’m already a week away from my due date

With my first I had a doula I loved prenatal care because she taught yoga but when it came down to birth she wasn’t as supportive as I’d like… when I transferred to the hospital I will say she advocated for me and got my placenta because the hospital didn’t want to give it to me…second time I had a doula but didn’t have her at the birth for one because she had just gave birth a month or so prior and second she wasn’t allowed to attend free births… in all I’d say interview them let them know what you’re looking for…

My doula for second birth was free for women in the city unless you have a good connection with her I’d say pass… hubby was the best doula
