Ideas and support

Hi all, I have been giving my nearly 7 month old purées for the last few weeks, she’s had her “first tastes” such as carrot, parsnip, sweet potato etc. what should be be making next? Not purées but first sort of meals for her. Can she have toast? How is this served? Also looking for other ideas and recipe suggestions please. Feeling really lost and overwhelmed with it all. Thank you

Ella's kitchen has food info 😊 This suggests blending the flavours together, you could add herbs and spices, mix a veggie ans a fruit together. I can't remember everything else without looking at the book/website but I'm trying to get prepped before we start weaning and found ella's kitchen so helpful!

Check out solid starts too!

When we started weaning on to more solid food my wee boy loved soft boiled carrot sticks, toast, the inside of cumcumbers, strawberries and bananas. We kept it to soft food like soups, curry, puréed chilli, mince and tatties and we’d serve them with finger food. It’s only now we are starting to give him small versions of our meals. Got to work up to it. I found “how to wean your baby” by Charlotte Stirling reed a good resource.

Another vote for solid starts. Its definately worth the money.... all day long

If you can think of something you'd like to feed them i can search it so you can see examples xx

Toast should be in strips so it’s easy for baby to hold and you can serve it toppings like nut butter, avocado, houmous etc. Baby can have anything you are having really (apart from honey, added salt/sugar or whole nuts) just make sure it’s it appropriately like long strips or if it’s things like grapes or cherry tomatoes they need to be quartered. Blueberries should be squashed

Definitely backing Solid Starts. They give you recipes, advise you how to prepare the food, they overlap new foods with ones they’ve already covered, and they introduce your LO to the known food allergens. Looking at their website, their payment options have changed considerably since we used their program last year. Seems like they’ve switched over to a monthly / annual subscription but thankfully they give a 7 day free trial.

I have quite a few suggestions, are you ok if I send you a DM?

We just gave our LO everything we ate minus the salt, chilli and honey. We prepared it correctly for her and just put it down in front of her. If she didnt touch it I would then try and blend it up to see if she would eat it that way and 9 times out of 10 she would xx

Solid Starts is useful to see how to serve food safely. We went straight in to giving him what we had, just chopped differently and without salt.

@Andi hey Andi, yes please il send you message x

Thank you all x
