i personally didn’t have any in my last pregnancy and didn’t vaccinate my baby and am doing the same again this time round, happy to talk about it if you want to x

I’m not sure why people would turn down the whooping cough vaccine 😬 fair enough on flu/covid though they can also offer baby protection but the whooping cough vaccine is taken to protect baby in their first few 8 weeks of life before their own jabs. RSV works the same so falls into the same category. Babies sadly die from things like whooping cough/RSV, if you can lessen the severity of these then I’m baffled as to why you wouldn’t. The whooping cough vaccine in particular is so well established too. The rates of vaccination in pregnant women are going down and cases in babies are going up 😢 My girl has had all her jabs and she had a normal reaction to the mmr where she had a measles like rash on her body and I just kept thinking how awful it’d be if she actually had something like the measles and how lucky we are to be able to protect against these serious illnesses. Even though choice is important, I can’t understand why people choose to put babies/kids at unnecessary risk.

I think it’s personally each to their own and what they think is best for their child ❤️

Only getting whooping cough same as last time

Of course it’s the individuals choice but I’m still baffled by those that don’t when the research is so evident/clear. It’s not quite the same as making other choices for you/baby/family which are more down to your own individual setup/preferences. Vaccines are a bit more black & white… vaccinate and you are protecting against deadly illnesses, don’t vaccinate and you are putting your baby at unnecessary risk, which is your choice of course but the crux of it.

I know but some people believe and maybe have researched them and they don’t think they are good for you. I have never had any vaccination and I’ve never had flu or Covid, I know I’m not a baby/toddler lol but still down to the individual and without judgement 🥰

Didn't have any in first pregnancy and won't be having any this time. Same for my kids x

You never had your baby immunisations? The flu/covid jabs don’t stop you from getting them but just lessen the severity if you did and they aren’t to do with baby. Many people won’t have had a flu jab until they are older or pregnant because it’s only needed if vulnerable. The whooping cough & RSV jabs are there to protect baby as well as their own jabs so are quite different. It’s comforting to know your child is less at risk of a severe illness and the vaccines are low risk to have. In a world of social media, it’s scary how many ‘experts’ are out there claiming this & that. Would suggest always looking at proper clinical trials and medical journals. It’s a big call not to protect/vaccinate your child. Yes it’s down to the individual though I don’t think it’s without judgement sadly as you are putting your baby more at risk and that’s just fact. I say that respectfully though.

@Alina it was just to highlight the concern around the drop in vaccines vs babies contracting whooping cough. The NHS have references to this too. I could’ve picked any article. I’m not in anyway endorsing what the Guardian has to say generally and can’t comment about 2020. Obviously vaccines/pregnancies are separate topics but there are vaccines strongly recommended while pregnant to protect baby and then of course their own jabs once born.

I never had any of the Covid jabs and I literally have never had Covid! I rarely get the flu either and I’m not jabbed. So I agree with you on that! Whereas my parents have had Covid vaccines forced and flu and the amount of time theyve caught Covid and the flu is unreal!

@Lauren no I haven’t had then as an adult, I know that jabs are said to be here to protect, im not saying they do or don’t. I don’t believe any parent should be judged for a decision they think is best xx

I think it’s just new evidence and it’s something people have always ‘had to do’ but I think now that people have more information they have a choice xx

have a look at ellie grey on instagram, she’s quite helpful with vaccine and actual facts x

@Amy yes I have looked at her instagram 🥰

I have had flu and whooping cough and will be having RSV. My daughter is fully vaccinated. My personal opinion is I think it’s WILD people chose not to protect their unborn/born children when there is so much research available around the vaccines. I’d recommend speaking to a qualified professional if you have any questions/queries around vaccines x

That’s great! No questions or queries just generally wondered what people’s thought/choices are ☺️

Yes will get all vaccinations - am fully vaccinated myself as is my first child and second child will be too. Haven’t had covid top up as midwife said not necessary but whooping cough and RSV entirely for benefit of baby rather than mum and I’ve heard some horror stories for RSV recently so just not willing to risk

@Arosa 🇵🇸 yea I’ve never had flu or Covid and not jabbed for either but everyone I know who is jabbed and boosters have had Covid multiple times xx

I’m having rsv, whooping cough and flu

@Arosa 🇵🇸 Correlation doesn’t mean cause. The majority of people have had covid & flu jabs especially if older. It doesn’t stop you from getting these, just lessens the severity. Being older their immune systems are more compromised and more likely to get ill. Having the vaccine isn’t the cause or thing making it more likely, it’s just a correlation.

I take them all 😅

Agree with you, everyone has their own opinion there’s no right or wrong, everyone’s entitled to get jabbed or not. It’s their decision, I’m just gonna get the whooping cough as I had that last time and everything was okay, but the rest I won’t be! Xx

I’ve had the flu, Covid and whooping cough so far. I will be getting RSV for the 28 weeks too

Will only have whooping cough vaccine.

I’ve had all the vaccines the NHS recommends. There are A LOT more people in the world who regret not having vaccines, than those who regret having them. It’s just a fact
