Solids (mostly BLW)

How are we all getting on with solids? LO (born 23 Mar) isn’t doing great but I think she’s probably fine and just need reassurance! She’s my second but her approach to starting solids has been quite different to my eldest. She has zero interest in being spoon fed (clamps her mouth shut and turns her head away) so we’ve more or less adopted a BLW weaning approach and I’ll try and sneak something in on a spoon when I can. Really though not much actually goes in with either method! This is normal though right for about six weeks in? We should just persevere? I’m really hoping she’ll become more open to the spoon soon as it’s limiting me from being able to offer her things like porridge and yogurt or versions of some of our meals that need to be slightly blended down for her. The only thing she will eat guaranteed is things like melty puffs and fruit wafers etc but obviously they’ve no real nutritional value so I don’t like to give them with every meal.

Mine eats banana, tomato, avocado, bread, cream, butter, yogurt and that’s about it 😂 He has no interest in anything else.

Try dippit from bibado. Gives them something for them to suck on until they figure the sppon. We also give porridge with it. And yougurt.

I think every baby is just different, I find if you're taking turns eating they tend to eat better or if it's the same meal as you like slight varied so it's ok for them, we are also 23rd march. My little man is eating almost everything but I'm taking it slow with each week introducing new foods, but we started at like 5months

We also make it a fun experience, I recently have been popping him in his chair was a laddle while I make his food

my baby eats everything he was born 9th march, he loves his food he has 3 meals a day x

letting baby touch and play with their food definitely helps x

Same here, not loads of interest but getting better slowly so i think just keep at it. She will have a full portion of porridge every morning so that's her only definite meal still at 7,5 months. The second meal is hit or miss. Unless it's a fruit pouch, she'll suck on that any day any time 😅

My son ate everything. My daughter who’s 8 months - hates everything I offer. Refuses the spoon. I’ve tried different environments, eating as family every meal, making it fun and BLW, purées, frozen, hot and so on. It’s so bloody hard to keep motivated. But I just keep thinking they will one day eat and few my friends had similar. Their kids all eat well now! Hang in there, it’s hard!
