No idea how to word title, please read the post! Thank you x

My baby girl was born 12 days overdue. She’s 23 weeks (5 months and 1 week) tomorrow but based on her due date she would be 5 months and 3 weeks. Anyway according to certain developmental apps were told to base them off babies due date. So is she technically 1 week off 6 months or still 3 weeks away? Asking in regard to weaning as she is SO ready but I’m holding off 😭

The developmental apps, such as wonder weeks, are based off babies due date as it works off brain development so birth date is irrelevant. For all other things, such as weaning, base off your babies actual birth date. So she’ll still be 3 weeks off being 6 months.

Haha my baby was also 12 days over due and my husband asked if that meant she was already 2 weeks old 😂 it's a valid question imo... But no, just go off birth date. However, my baby will be 5 months on Sunday, and other than age, she's hitting all the criteria for solids. I'm going to hold off for at least another 2 weeks but I wouldn't be surprised if she forces my hand and grabs something off me before she's 6 months!

@Charlotte mine is already grabbing all of my food off me and trying to stick it in her mouth (causing a lot of spills) I feel so bad eating around her ! She even does the chewing motion with her mouth as she watches me. I feel very cruel!

If she seems ready then I would go for it, she certainly sounds like she is 😂 the guidance is around 6 months, not every baby is going to hit that and be ready the same as some will be ready before, I can’t imagine a week or two will do any harm

@Emma I think I’m going to. Discussed with my husband tonight and we both agree she’s been ready for a while so we’re going to start 🥰

Exciting!! Good luck, I’m awaiting delivery of all our bits then I’ll be doing the same I think

@Emma it all seems so confusing knowing where/how to start lol
