Dummies/Soothers

This may be a really stupid question! But I know when you sterilise a bottle/dummy it is only sterilised for so long! So for my hospital bag I am packing some of the aptamil pre made bottles with sterilised teets… but what do you do with the dummies? Obvs I don’t know what day she will come so how do I keep them sterilised and ready in my hospital bag? Thank you 🤯😭

Hello! I’ve literally just been thinking about this today. I saw some bibs pacifier boxes on Amazon that can be used to store and sterilise dummies. I believe you use them in the microwave to sterilise. I haven’t got one yet but this was my thinking as would be handy to sterilise in the box then put straight into hospital bag incase needed xx

I thought this with my first, so I planned to sterilise them at home, last minute before we went to the hospital. We had the MAM ones and they are sterile for 48 hours, I think. You sterilise them in the microwave in the box they come in. We didn’t end up using them in the hospital at all but when we mentioned we had them, they brought us a sterilising bag and said we could use the microwave. You can also get little portable bottle sterilisers that you use the Milton tablets with though. Milton do one and they might even have a dummy one actually 🤔 I’m sure I’ve seen something in Boots x

Baby shouldn’t need a dummy straight away, you run the risk of missing feeding cues otherwise. However, if it’s something you want to do then the hospital should have a steriliser for you to borrow while you’re there

The mam bottles are self sterilising in the microwave so you can out the dummy in them as well and sterilise in the hospital as I am sure they have a microwave there. This is what I will be doing x
