Bonfire night with a one year old yay or nay?

Not sure whether it will be good or bad? I will get ear defenders of course just not sure if it’s a good idea to take my one year old!

I would just be worried about too much smoke inhalation but if they’re kept away from the smoke it should be fine :)

I took mine at that age and she was mesmerised, I spent more time watching her face than the fireworks! 🥰

I took my child at 6months and he slept the entire time and at one we actually watched from a viewing box. We used ear defenders both times and he was absolutely fine in fact at one he loved watching the colours in the sky.

I think it’s a great idea for ur little one! I can’t believe how many ppl said nay! @Sorrel nailed it! It’s going to be so mesmerizing for ur toddler! X

I have bonfires with my 1 year old all the time. She's learned that fires are hot and stands a back with her hands out and says "ahhh" because I say "ahhh, nice and toasty" to her when we practiced

Our son loved them!! Just stand near the exit as they get so busy and it’s cold so you want a quick exit!! I’m more worried about taking our 2yr old now as he’s more aware and think he might be scarred!!!!

I think there’s some confusion here between “bonfire” meaning in the UK and US 😆

@Jordan reading the description nsit barely that makes sense. I don't know why a kid would need ear protection for a bonfire. What is the UK version of a bomfire?

@Kylie I’m from the US so I could be remembering incorrectly but I think “bonfire night” a celebration of a failed attempt to assassinate King James I and his parliament. And it takes place on November 5th. It usually involves bonfires and fireworks and stuff like that! I think the ear protection would be due to fireworks 😊

@Jordan I swear I learn something new everyday! This is the 1st time I’ve ever heard of this November 5th celebration. Im originally from Africa bt was raised in the Midwest in Minnesota and my Husband & his entire family are from there so introduced to the bonfires that middle America like to have especially during the crisp fall and winter weather! Bt This is so interesting cuz I didn’t know “bonfire nights” had a totally different meaning :)

Haha brilliant! So what do you do on bonfire night?!

@Francesca Well when say say we're having a bonfire, we're just talking about sitting around a fire. Maybe roasting marshmallows. Most Americans don't celebrate a bonfire night. At least none I know of do and I've never heard of it.

People call it bonfire night but the real name I think is Guy Fawkes night, there’s one massive bonfire and a ton of fireworks but most places usually have live music, food and drinks and fun fair rides :)

We are taking my son who is 8 months old 🤩

@Kylie it’s when the Houses of Parliament nearly got blown up in 1605 - us brits celebrate it😂😂
