GD after birth

How does GD work after birth? Do they test you in the hospital again or when do they test? I’ve seen some people get a 2 hr test done in the hospital & some don’t. what do they do with the baby in the hospital like what kind of test are done for the baby?

Iv been told as minimum, they require GD mums and babies to stay in hospital for 24 hours for regular testing regardless of how GD is controlled. May change area to area

They test you at least 3 weeks after yo see if your sugars are back to normal

I was on metformin and never tested after birth. Baby was heel pricked twice, once before feeding the first 2 times. I got told to book an appointment before 6-8 week check to see if I still have it and I’ll get results back by the check. Baby’s 7 weeks on Sunday and still no letter to tell me an appointment time for us to go in 🤦‍♀️

You can do a blood test or another of the drink about 6 weeks after birth just think it was when I got my blood levels tested.

Depends where you are. I had a baby in January, next is due in April. January baby, I stopped all medication after baby was born I was finger pricked 3 times and that was it as my levels were back in range. They heal pricked my son twice and then I went for a blood test 6 weeks later. I’ve been told it will be the same for my next birth apart from this is planned c section so I will be in for 24 hours but I could go home in as little as 12
