How do you get your baby to stop using baby bottle?

My son is 15 months and still has a bottle before bed. I've tried getting him to have it in a beaker or cup but he won't drink it. Do I go cold turkey or any suggestions? He's not the best sleeper and he's only just started sleeping through so don't want to rock the boat 🤣. He's a great eater though.

With my first, we switched at 15 months and she refused to drink it out of the cup. She then didn’t drink milk for 2 months but had other things like cheese and yogurt through the day so we weren’t worried. Then out of the blue one day, she just asked for milk so we started giving it again.

I went cold turkey and switched my daughters bottle to a soft spout sippy cup at first she used them for juice before so I thought she may accept them for milk. She didn't she hated it so stopped drinking milk for a little while but she was a cheese fiend so no concerns on the calcium front. She's now 5 and will still only drink milk with a straw if she fancies milk. In short cold turkey and a swap of cup was what we tried x

Mine didn’t want milk out of any cups so I just went cold turkey and gave her a bowl of cereal before bed instead :)

MAM have nice transition bottles!

If you don’t want to transition from a bottle yet, that’s absolutely fine too. He’s only having it once a day and uses it for comfort. My son is exactly the same and it really helps him to fall asleep as I BF him to sleep for the first year of his life

My daughter is 18 months and still get a a bottle before bed. That’s the only one she gets. I asked her pediatrician the same question and she said don’t worry about it just if they have teeth make sure to brush their teeth or at least take a couple sips of water. She said her son had a bottle at night until he was 2.5 and her daughter until she was 2

My daughter is 15 months and I switched her to the Dr brown sippy cup bottle it’s just like a baby bottle but with a sippy spout. During day she does straw cups so hopefully will ease to a straw cup one day but it’s only once and before bed so I’m not that worried about it I breastfed so it soothes her and gets her sleepy before bed. I’d say once I wean her paci I’ll wean the sippy cup into a straw cup so it doesn’t have any effect on her teeth!

@Dee came here to say this! There’s such a push at 12 months to completely stop. He’s only 15 months and it’s one bottle. I assume you clean teeth after @ingog If it helps him sleep I would continue. I do with my 17 month old and don’t really plan to stop until nearer 2.

Straws?

Before bed as in the last thing before bed? Falling asleep with it? Move it to earlier in the bedtime routine. If he's using it to fall asleep , start watering it down or go to straight water. During the day is he drinking from a cup? Work on that if not. Find one he likes and then start using that one at night. What happens if he just doesn't get it?

My son is currently weaning himself off his night bottle. I have been offering him a snack about 20 minutes before bedtime. Having a full tummy has helped a lot.
