How do you offer yourself self compassion?
I am struggling more than I ever have in my life at 1 year PP. a friend who now has a 2 year old has tried self compassion for a while. It was a new concept to me, it still is really.
I keep seeing it online and around motherhood. Does anyone have any advice or tools they can use? Practical tools as a mother with no time
Hi, I'm glad you are considering practicing self compassion. I'd say a good place to start is to notice where you are most critical of yourself. When do you feel most guilty or ashamed or even disgusted with yourself? What is the thought or belief that precedes that feeling? Look up cognitive behavioral therapy. It is a very common form of talk therapy used by most therapists. It will give you a model of how to break down your thought processes and begin to reframe your thoughts to allow more compassion as well as space to correct any behavior you'd like to correct without beating yourself up about it. Therapistaid.com has some worksheets for therapists, but you can use them by yourself! Just go to the website and search cbt worksheets and find one that may help you start to explore. Happy Reflecting! 🥰
